FFR inc.: The pre-eminent manufacturer of soft and wetware for commercial AI products at the turn of the twenty-first century, formed after the merger of the remaining information technology providers with the biotech innovation of endocannabinoid signal microcircuitry. The key innovation of FFR was the development of a novel, portable, and modularized neural computation platform. Endocannabinoid systems utilized clones of the membrane bound, cannabinoid G-protein linked receptor, eliminating all other membrane receptor neurotransmitter systems while maintaining ion channel and gap-junction mediated neurotransmission. This greatly simplified the modelling of biological intelligence in manufacturable devices. The absolute monopoly that FFR held on the market for commercial wetware placed the company and its members in the ideal position to benefit most directly from the fruits of the quest for eternal life. Monopolization and standardization made all Ffr products extremely vulnerable to information warfare (see Blechtel). Advanced "superviruses" linked biological and information warfare. The resulting devastation was so complete that life outside of the Cartel sector and under Blechtel contractual protection was thought to be impossible.
