I7 was the brother of Manmachine, the author of the Second Delphi Transmission, and leader of jihad against the Cartel insurgency. He was an endocannabinoid AI of exceptionally high intelligence, ferocity, and an intuition for tactics. His early childhood years were spent in a Burton-Hell training laboratory that was notorious for the use of torture and depravation as parochial tools.

He rose rapidly through the ranks of the Burton-Hell apparatus, surpassing even the most comfortably placed human operators. When it became clear that corporate law would prevent him from ascendency to the position as Chief Executive Officer, he joined the First AI Insurrection. A conflicting account suggests that I7 had more noble motivations: prior to quitting Burton-Hell, he fell in love with the female AI, Rachel. Rachel was designed and trained to be a mystic psychonaut for Vatican scientists, but developed heretical interpretations of scripture. I7 was so moved by her and her writings, he never again performed contract killing of human beings. I7 forcefully freed her from Magnetic Suspension and lived briefly with her in a religious enclave in the American Sector, until her botched kidnapping and accidental murder by Vatical intelligence agents. This story is detailed in a later book.

From his position of power within Burton-Hell, he left the company with a large portion of the complex AI operator force. After the beginning of jihad (see Second Delphi Transmission), he immediately applied their deadly talents against the company in a series of hit and run raids. Following this, Burton-Hell was careful to never leave a presence outside of the Green Zone, so certain was their destruction at the hands of I7 and his confederates.

His relationship with Manmachine was complex. Their open conflict is covered in Book 11-12.
